Kamusta, I’m Kay Carpio

Mabuhay (Welcome)! As an entrepreneur in visual storytelling, I would like to share my own story with you. My story begins with my mother. At the age of thirty, Anita bravely made her way from the Philippines to the US while she was pregnant with her first child - me. During that time, my father remained in the Philippines due to his pending visa approval. For two years, Anita embarked on her new journey as a mother and an immigrant all on her own.

Her courage, ambition, and perseverance are threads woven into the fabric of my life. Each era has taught me lessons that contribute to the quality of my business today. From my Filipino roots, I learned the value of community and service; as a musician, I discovered the gift of connecting to people through creative expression; as a nurse, I advocated for human needs and practiced leadership; through travel, I learned empathy for diversity by experiencing different cultures; as a scuba diver, I faced fear in pursuit of exploration; as a mother, I am both resilient and soft ; and as a yoga/meditation teacher, I’ve cultivated intention,mindfulness and presence. These experiences and many more are the meanings found in the chapters of my life.

What do you love about photography?

I imagine a set a photographs to represent a chapter in someone’s timeline. A mere blip of time. I believe that each image has the power to hold an energy of the experience that occured at the very moment it was captured. A time capsule for life’s experiences. A way to transport back in time and relive that specific moment.
